Brooklyn Derby - My friends and I decided to go to the Brooklyn Derby party this year (if you haven’t been, you gotta check it out! it’s an awesome event!) And of course there was a hat contest.
In developing the concept, I loved pushing the idea of what a derby hat typically is..BIG…COLORFUL, and DRAMATIC. I didn't want to use a typical hat base and was imagining something sculptural, which pointed me to thermoplastic. This was the first time I worked with thermoplastic, and had so much fun making this!
